Malcolm Edmonstone

Malcolm is a jazz pianist, arranger and educator born in Perth, Scotland. He moved to London to study at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama where he is now a key professor in the Jazz Faculty. Malcolm is also Artistic Director of the National Youth Jazz Orchestra of Scotland.

Since studying at GSMD, Malcolm has worked on various projects with British pianist and composer, Laurie Holloway, including the first three series of the BBC 1 show 'Strictly Come Dancing', where he played piano and arranged much of the music.

At 21, Malcolm met Jacqui Dankworth and soon became her Musical Director, touring the world and working together on the albums 'Detour Ahead' and 'Back to You'. In 2009 Malcolm had the honour of working alongside the late Sir John Dankworth on Jacqui's 2011 album 'It Happens Quietly'.

Malcolm continues to work with some of the UK's most original jazz musicians including Mike Walker, Stan Sulzmann and Mark Lockheart.
